Melissa (Mel) Sovronsky was born and raised in New York and currently lives on the Upper West Side. She holds an undergraduate degree in Psychology, History and Jewish Studies from Queens College and a dual Masters degree in Early, Elementary and Special Education (Birth-2nd Grade) from Touro College.

This is Mel's fifth year teaching Pre-K, and we are so happy to have her as part of our My Little School family for the second year running. In her time as an educator at our school, Mel has consistently proven herself to be a teaching superstar and a top role model for her students with the individualized attention she pays to each and every one.

The dedication and time she puts into every aspect of her job is apparent in the quality of her lessons and the big smiles found on each student's face from the moment they walk through the door.

Mel ensures that the parents of her students are directly involved with the educational process via her daily "ask your child" emails and weekly blog. Taking a look at her blog opens up a window into the world of Morah Mel, and it is a world full of fun and knowledge.

Along with Morah Chani, she fosters a creative environment emphasizing social-emotional growth and community awareness, and brings her enthusiasm and passion for teaching to the classroom, making each day an adventure.

One of Morah Mel's specialties is her science curriculum in which Mel encourages the children to question and figure out how and why things work through a scientific lens. The children enjoy hands-on science so much that we have kicked off a Mad Science with Morah Mel after-school program which has proven to be a huge success with both the children and their parents.

Mel expands her role as an educator by teaching in our Hebrew School, and working with CTeen and Cool Shul, our monthly teen and youth programs.
